1 cup water
3/4 cup white sugar
1 whole cinnamon stick
1 orange
3 whole cloves
1 (750 milliliter) bottle red wine

Directions:

1. Combine water, sugar and cinnamon stick in a saucepan. Bring to a boil then reduce heat and simmer.

2. Quarter oranges and squeeze into the saucepan. Then place the squeezed oranges and cloves into the water. Simmer for 30 minutes until the mixture becomes thick and syrupy.

3. Add the wine to the saucepan and heat until steaming but not simmering. (do not boil)

4. Strain or remove cloves and oranges.

5. Serve warm in hot mugs or glasses.
